I’m writing this blog from a coffee shop in Lop Buri, watching the rain. I chose to travel during the rainy season because hotel prices are lower, and there are fewer tourists.
Lop Buri is a great place to explore if you have your own transport. There are many interesting sights outside the city, but it’s hard to get there by public transportation.
There’s no Bolt or Grab car service here, and no tour operators either. The roads are not too busy, and cycling would be a great way to explore the area, but there’s no support for that.
Language can be a challenge here, so you’ll need a translator app to communicate. I haven’t had any trouble with the monkeys. I leave them alone, don’t show them food, and they don’t bother me.
Lop Buri reminds me of Phitsanulok, another town hit hard by COVID. These places aren’t very busy, except during peak tourist season.
If you have an international driving license, you can rent a motorbike from Noom Guesthouse and explore the area. Otherwise, a day trip from Bangkok is enough.
