Hua Hin is like a charming, vintage town. This year was my second visit, and it still has that laid-back vibe. Specially and unfortunately after the COVID, several businesses closed. The town stretches along the coast, with cute backroads that take you to beaches and cozy eateries & bars, while the main road is lined with cute cafés, massage parlors, and aesthetic clinics.
I had a great time there, especially enjoying the fresh seafood, which was surprisingly affordable. I also loved getting a relaxing massage, wandering around the night market, and spending time at the Village Market, the main shopping spot in Hua Hin.
I visited during the rainy season, but it only rained twice while I was there—and just for two hours each night. Hotels are super cheap during this time, food is inexpensive, and since Hua Hin isn’t a party town, the bars were empty. It’s a popular spot for locals from Bangkok and other parts of Thailand to spend their weekends or holidays.
This time, I decided to join a cycling tour with Hua Hin Bike Tours. We rode along the coastal backroads, passing through charming neighborhoods and ending up at some beautiful beaches. At Sanae Beach, we even climbed a hill to see a massive golden Buddha overlooking the town and the sea. It was such a fun half-day trip—the bike was perfect and the guide was fantastic.
I took a minibus from Bangkok’s Mo Chit bus station terminal 2 to get there and returned to Bangkok by train. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape just 2.5 hours from Bangkok, I highly recommend visiting this lovely little town.
